1. Introduction & Scope
Active Motif, Inc. ("Active Motif," "we," "us," or "our") is an established life sciences company specializing in epigenetics and gene regulation research tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit the PIXUL microsite at pixul.activemotif.com (and, once attached, the production domain) — collectively, the "Site."
For the broader Active Motif website (activemotif.com), please refer to the privacy policy on that site. This policy covers the PIXUL microsite specifically.
We act as a data controller for personal information collected through the Site.
By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
When you submit the contact form on our Contact page, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically name, email, organization, inquiry type, and an optional message. The form is delivered by Salesforce Pardot (Account Engagement), embedded as an iframe; submissions flow directly to Active Motif's marketing system and CRM. See Section 5 below for details on the third-party platforms involved.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and browser data: device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution
- Network data: IP address (truncated for analytics), approximate geographic location (city/region level)
- Usage data: pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URL — collected via Vercel Analytics (see Section 5 below)
- Cookies and similar technologies: as described in Section 4 below
Information From Third-Party Platforms
When the Site is loaded, Vercel (our hosting provider) processes server logs to deliver content and protect against abuse. Cloudflare may process limited technical data for performance and security on assets cached at the edge.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Analyze Site performance, understand which scientific content scientists engage with, and improve the Site
- Prevent fraud and protect the security of the Site
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate, analyze, and improve the Site. We use a cookie consent banner (powered by vanilla-cookieconsent) to give you granular control over which categories load. The table below describes the categories we use.
| Category | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Vercel | Hosting and edge network performance; no cross-site tracking | Session |
| Essential | vanilla-cookieconsent | Stores your cookie preference choice so the banner does not reappear on every visit | 6 months |
| Analytics | Vercel Analytics | Aggregate page-view counts, traffic sources, and Core Web Vitals. Privacy-first; no cross-site tracking | Cookieless |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 (future) | Aggregate user-journey analytics. Will be enabled once the production domain is attached; consent-gated via the banner | Up to 14 months |
| Functional | Salesforce Pardot | Contact form delivery + lead attribution (only when you visit /contact). Sets visitor_id* cookies on the Pardot tracker domain | Up to 10 years (Pardot default; cleared when you withdraw consent) |
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
- On the Site: open the cookie banner by clicking the cookie preference link in the footer (or by clearing your
cc_cookie). You may accept all, accept only essential, or manage by category at any time. - Browser settings: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings menu.
5. Third-Party Platforms
Vercel (Hosting + Analytics)
The Site is hosted on Vercel's edge network. Vercel processes server logs (including IP addresses for the duration of a request) to deliver content. We additionally use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Site — aggregated, anonymized, IP-truncated, with no cross-site tracking or advertising IDs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy and Vercel Analytics Privacy.
Cloudflare (CDN)
Cloudflare processes limited technical data to deliver edge caching and DDoS protection. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Salesforce Pardot (Account Engagement) — Contact Form
The contact form on our Contact page is delivered via Salesforce Pardot (now branded Marketing Cloud Account Engagement), embedded as an iframe. When you submit the form, the information you provide is transmitted directly to Active Motif's Pardot instance and synced to our Salesforce CRM. Pardot may set tracking cookies (typically visitor_id*) on the iframe domain — those cookies are scoped to Pardot's tracker domain and not shared with this site. See Salesforce Privacy Statement.
Google Analytics 4 (future)
Once the production domain is attached, we will enable Google Analytics 4 with IP-anonymization and consent-gated loading. See Google's Privacy Policy.
6. How We Share Your Information
We may share personal information with:
- Service providers: hosting (Vercel), CDN (Cloudflare), analytics (Vercel; future GA4), and other vendors who help us operate the Site
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, subpoena, or government request
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified
- With your consent: when you explicitly authorize disclosure
7. Data Retention
- Vercel Analytics data: retained per Vercel's default retention (typically up to 12 months, aggregated)
- Server logs: retained per Vercel and Cloudflare's standard log retention (typically 30–90 days)
- Cookie preferences: stored on your device for 6 months from your last interaction with the banner
To request information about your personal data, contact us via Active Motif at activemotif.com/contact-us.
8. Your Privacy Rights
